The Most Effective Way To Prepare Kava Kava Tea

What Is Kava?
Kava also known as 'Awa is a plant indigenous to the Southeast Pacific Islands notably Fiji and Vanuatu which provides users with a powerful anti-anxiety effect.  Kava Kava was traditionally used as a ritual drink by men, but today it is used by all people across the globe.
How Does It Work?
Kava Kava contains within in at least a eighteen different compounds known as Kavalactones most of which are believed to be psychoactive. The most well known of these kavalactones are Methysicin, and Kavain.  It is believed the full profile of kavalactones work together in syngergy to produce the calming effect of Kava.  Kava's primary effect is believed to be upon the GABA receptors in the brain where alcohol and many prescription anti-anxiety medications have their effect.  However, unlike alcohol or prescription anti-anxiety medication Kava does not cause addiction, and tolerance is not built.  In fact, there is a strang phenomena known as 'reverse tolerance' that occurs with frequent Kava use.  Over time, with continued use it often takes users less Kava to obtain optiminal effects.
What Does It REALLY Feel Like?
It's difficult to explain the feeling you get from Kava to someone who has never tried it before.  The best way I can describe it is similar to the feeling you get from taking a prescription anti-anxiety medicine (like Xanax), but without any of the mental dullness associated with it.  Of course if you tried Kava you'd find this description to be entirely inaccurate, but it's the best analogy I can relate.
  • After I drink Kava my mouth immediately begins to feel numb.  If your mouth feels numb right when the Kava touches your lips, you've prepared it properly!
  • After a short while I feel like sitting or laying down and doing a low-intensity activity like reading or watching TV.
  • I will feel the knots in my shoulder muscles start to loosen and my body begins to feel loose, almost akin to a clenched fist slowly opening.
  • I feel a 'warm buzz' around my head and an enveloping feeling of calm.
  • Normally a slight smile with appear on my face as my anxious worried mind slows to a halt.
  • I become more engrossed and interested in whatever activity I'm engaged in.  If I'm watching TV I'm really JUST watching TV and nothing else.  My mind isn't thinking about pruning the trees, or doing my laundry I am able to focus completely on whatever task I am currently engaged in.
Ok, So What's This Effective Way Of Making Kava You're Talking About?
I've read many reports of the internet of people making Kava Kava saying that it's placebo or it doesn't work etc. etc..  First of all Kava is NOT a placebo, it is scientifically proven to work and it's thousand plus year history is testament to it's effectiveness.
So Why Do So Many People Say Kava Doesn't Work For Them?
  1. Poor Quality Kava - In order to make Kava Kava the root must be powdered, thus the entire plant must be destroyed.  A plant that is only a few years old will not produce a strong effect and your kava will be of weak potency no matter what you do.
  2. Poor Storage Methods - Kavalactones are very sensitive especially heat.  Kava Kava should be stored in an opaque vaccuum packed bag in the freezer.  A clear storage container is not sufficient for storing Kava and exposure to heat will degrade your Kava quickly.  If you don't have a vaccuum sealer you can simply push the air out of the bag and place it in the freezer.
  3. Giving Up Too Soon - As mentioned above the concept of 'reverse tolerance' applies to Kava.  Most people will NOT feel it their first time.  You must be persistent and give it at least three or four tries before you discount Kava all together.  This is difficult for many because the taste of Kava can be unpleasant and individuals may write off it's effect as bunk before the 'reverse tolerance' ever has a chance to kick in.
  4. POOR PREPARATION METHODS - This is what this article is about and I will explain to you my method below which works for me 100% of the time.
 Here's What You Need
  • High Quality Properly Stored Kava Kava - See Below For The Best Kava Sources
  • Soy Lecitichin Granules - See Below For Sources
  • HEMP Seed Oil - See Below For Sources
  • 1 Gallon Paint Strainer (Or Kava Strainer Bag)- Available at any Hardware Store
  • Measuring Cups
  • A Blender
  • A Large Bowl/And a Large Serving Spoon
Steps
  1. Use 1 cup of water, 1/4 cup of Kava Kava powder, 2 teaspoons of Hemp Oil, and 2 teaspoons of Soy Lecithin Granules per person.  (Note: This is much more than is often recommended but the truth is in order to avoid FDA scrutiny many Kava distributors can not reveal the true ratio needed for a potent beverage)
  2. Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend quickly for a few seconds, then leave it alone for at least 30 minutes. The longer you let it sit there the more time Kavalactones have to get absorbed.
  3. After at least 30 minutes, blend the the mixture for two 30 seconds bursts on the blender's highest speed.
  4. Wrap paint strainer around large serving bowl and power kava mix into paint strainer.
  5. Work and knead the mass of Kava powder into the brown kava water for at least 1-2 minutes rewetting and squeezing out the ball of kava powder.  If the top layer of the Kava has a milky white froth-like swirls in it you're doing it properly!
  6. Squeeze the ball as hard as possible until it's nearly dry and discard the insides
  7. Add a couple ice cubes to the mix and serve in an empty coconut shell or desired glass
  8. Hold your nose, and drink as quickly as possible.  True, it doesn't exactly taste like a chocolate milkshake but no one promised it would either.
